Amir Asadollah Alam

Amir Asadollah Alam who was son of Mohammad Ibrahim Khan Alam (Shokat al- Molk), the governor of Qa'enat, was born in 1919 in Birjand. He educated in Birjand and Tehran and graduated from Karaj's Agriculture College. After his father died, Alam was appointed to governor of Sistan and Baluchistan. He became Interior Minister in the government of Mohammad Sa'ed and he assumed the position of the Minister of Agriculture in the same cabinet. In Rajab Ali Mansour government, Alam remained in the same position, but in Razm Ara cabinet, he was appointed to Labor ministry.
 
Alam played an active role in 1953 Iranian Coup d'état and after that, as General Officer Fardoust said, he had a main role in removal of General Zahedi from Prime Minister.
 
Alam was Interior Minister in Hussein Ala government and he selected as the General Secretary of People's Party in 1947 and until 1953 stayed in the same Party and after one year, he was the chief of the Pahlavi Foundation. He was Minister from July 19, 1962 to March 7, 1964.
 
The most important events which were happened in his Prime Minister period were the approval of the legislation of the state and provincial broad, the clergymen protests and the abolition of this legislation, the sixth February referendum and also the uprising repression of June 5th, 1963 and Imam Khomeini's exile. In addition to the above events, he could do the Twenty- fourth National Assembly elections and the fourth period of Senate. When he resigned Prime Minister, he assumed Shiraz Pahlavi University's chairmanship. In November 1966, Asadollah was appointed to the Court Ministry. The coronation of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and the 2500 year celebration of the Persian Empire were held during his Court Ministry.

Alam, who was diagnosed with cancer, had to leave the country for medical treatment was excluded by the Shah and Amir Abbas Hoveida was appointed to the Court Ministry instead of him. Alam, who was the best and nearest friends of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, wrote the secret notes about the reign and these memoires due to the level of their details is the greatest source of information about the Court situation and the Shah.
